In book 1 (Tunuftol's Fortress of Light)...

A young girl, Krissa, and her little brother, Micah, have been pushed around the foster system until they find themselves in the care of "Grandma" Athey. Krissa begins having unusual dreams and her brother knows more than she thinks. Their new friends, Pin, and her twin brother, Khevin, join forces to unravel Krissa's questions. Krissa has become The Chosen One and is drawn into a mission against an evil faction that usurped the throne from Khevin's family. With a group of friends accumulated from school, Krissa learns to control her new found powers and follow her dreams to a world they all fled from as small children.

NOW...

This brave band of spectacular friends must go on a horrendous journey to remove all threats to the newly reclaimed throne. They will discover amazing new truths and face heart wrenching choices. Who are the Philo birds singing about? How will their song play out in the lives of these young people? Will it all be for nothing??

What People Are Saying About It:
"Tunuftol's Fortress of Light is a wonderfully woven story full of fun, charisma and entertainment," said Jodie Pierce, author of The Vampire Queen.  "She writes in a manner that the reader feels like they are right there... She gives you a whole world where you can immerse yourself for awhile.  This is a page turner that is hard to put down."

The Character:
Name: Krissa Wittek
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Green
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 120
Age: 13
Birthday: April 29th
Parents: Unknown (Father; deceased), Unknown (Mother; deceased)
Sibling: Micah (age 9)
Guardian info:  Placed with "Grandma" Athey Boske on April 22nd.
General history info:  Has a cruel case worker, Mrs. Duana Jebel-Johnston.  Their parents died in an unidentified accident a month after Krissa turned eight, and Micah was three.  Most information about the Wittek children has been lost.  Research into her parentage is actively in progress.  Although, it isn't even known for certain if her name is actually Krissa Wittek.  The girl has a violent nature and has been reported to steal from former foster parents along with destructive behavior.
From psychological evaluation: Krissa is a thirteen year old girl of average build and intelligence.  She has exhibited symptoms of domestic abuse, evident through aggression and defensiveness, typical of a teen in foster care for over five years.  She also exhibits an over active mothering instinct for her younger sibling.  Again, this behavior does not deviate from the normal parameters.  Her case worker has noted a higher than usual level of aggression, but this has not been observed in any of the individual sessions or observations I have made.  Krissa has taken on the role of protector for her younger brother.  Her brother is undersized for his age with a genius IQ, and is therefore a target for bullies.  Krissa is a reactive girl, not afraid to physically defend herself of her brother.  She puts on a tough exterior and has a low self-esteem.   The girl's memory has some blocks in it, probably due to trauma in her past.  It is recommended that she is placed with a patient guardian that will provide alternate forms of self expression and should be a long term placement to provide stability.  It is also recommended that she receive counseling on a regular basis to learn new coping skills for her trust and anger issues.
Personal information:  Krissa has finally claimed her rights as gate keeper and Chosen One.  Struggling to understand her newly rediscovered abilities and heritage, she not only learns who she is and where she's from, but also how to control and use her abilities to fulfill prophecy and destiny.  In the process, Krissa gains a stable family and a place to call home.  While she is physically active and a hard worker, she has little training in any particular field of study.

Biography:
I grew up in Vermont mostly and now live in Virginia with my family (those still at home).  My husband and I have a blended family of seven kids.  My childhood was spent moving around a lot. (non-military)  About five years ago, we started home-schooling our youngest children.  Now there are only two remaining in home-school.  I have tried to nurture the love of books in our children and now our grandchildren -- always nurturing their imaginations.  Recently, I have become active in our community with literacy, starting a local (and online) creative writing club and volunteer tutoring at the Adult Learning Center.

I struggle with Fibromyalgia and PTSD.  So, have to be careful not to overdo things... I don't always listen to my own advice.  I have a dry, sarcastic and corny sense of humor and always try to look at things optimistically.  (again not always successful)  However, I feel that if I don't give up -- for long -- then things will work out for the best eventually.
